Women Who Rock!

We are now offer­ing a clas­sic rock work­shop for women. Led by bassist and gui­tar player Ellen Keng, the work­shop will meet once a week for 2 hours at JamSpot in Wake­field (AND COMING IN SPRING 2011 @ JAMSPOT IN SOMERVILLE!)

We are look­ing for women play­ers of all skill lev­els, but ide­ally every­one will have a basic knowl­edge of her instru­ment. The group will start out learn­ing and play­ing a set of clas­sic 3 & 4 chord rock tunes (Eagles, Stones, Petty, etc.), with a focus on cre­at­ing a strong group dynamic (the “band”), and improv­ing indi­vid­ual play­ing skills. Over time we will move into more com­pli­cated pieces, per­haps includ­ing orig­i­nal songwriting.

When the group is ready they will have an oppor­tu­nity to play a gig and/or go into the record­ing studio!

We are cur­rently recruit­ing play­ers for the work­shop. Once we have a basic group (drums, bass, gui­tar, keys, vocals), the work­shop leader, in coor­di­na­tion with the group mem­bers, will deter­mine a con­ve­nient day and time for the weekly sessions.

The work­shop ses­sions are held each Mon­day night form 7:00pm at JamSpot in Wake­field (directions).

JamSpot stu­dios come fully equipped, includ­ing drums and key­boards, so play­ers need only bring their instru­ments, cables and ped­als. Each ses­sion costs $20, which includes the cost of stu­dio time and the work­shop leader fees. Please note that this work­shop is intended for adult play­ers (18+). Play­ers 17 and under should con­sider our Lucky 13 and brand new “GIRLS WHO ROCK” Music programs.
