Frequently Asked Questions

What's it cost?
The Player Rooms rent for $40/hour...that's per room, not per person.
The Showcase Rooms, which are more than twice the size of the others and includes a stage, lights and other amenities, rents for $55/hour.
Click here for the complete list of rental rates.

What's in the rooms?
All rooms include 2 guitar amps, a full drum kit, bass amp, PA, mics, cables & stands and a built-in CD recording and playback system using embedded room mics.
Instruments and other gear are also available for rent.
Click on the link for a typical room configuration.

Can I bring my own gear?
Instruments, amps, mics and stands are no problem. But if you're planning on bringing in your own drums or PA system you must let us know in advance and pay a $25 service fee for us to break down, move and reset JamSpot gear to make room for yours.
Can I rearrange the equipment?
We'd rather you didn't. Each JamSpot studio has been professionally engineered, with the selection and placement of the gear matched to the acoustics of each room.
However, if you do move some of the gear it is your responsibility to put it back in its original position at the end of your session. We reserve the right to charge a $25 set-up fee if we have to re-arrange the room after your session.
What if I need more than the standard setup?
Instruments and gear beyond the basic room set-up can be rented on an as-available basis.
Can I rent rooms on a daily or weekly basis?
Call us at 1-617-666-PLAY and we'll see what we an work out.
Can I record my sessions?
Yes, all rooms have built-in CD recording systems using embedded room mics.
What if I play over my allotted time?
Our rental periods begin on the hour and last for 55 minutes. So if someone else has the room booked right after you, and we don't see you at five-of, we'll come a-knockin'.
Why do I have to book in advance?
Simply to ensure availability of the room you want when you want it. We're getting significant interest from professional bands looking for regular rehearsal space and from players like us who just don't have a convenient place to jam.
Why do I have to book with a credit card?
To protect ourselves from late cancellations and equipment loss or damage.
Can I book online?
Only after our slacker web guy gets around to building it.
Can I check availability online?
Sooner or later...see above.
Can I bring in my friends to watch?
Only in the Showcase Room and only if arrangements are made in advance.
Can I eat, drink or smoke in the rooms?
No, no and no. Check out the house rules. Our members come here to enjoy a clean and comfortable place to play, so it's up to all of us to do our part.
How do I meet other members for jams?
We'll be scheduling all sorts of clinics, open sessions and other fun events to make it easy to meet new players and singers.
We'll also be posting all that info on our site and on our MySpace page.
What are the special programs all about?
As mentioned above, we'll be scheduling all sorts of clinics, open sessions and other fun events to attract like-minded players and singers.
Can I get discounts on equipment?
Maybe. Our hope is to work out cross-promotional arrangements with as many music stores and other merchants as we can.
What happens if I break something?
That depends on the circumstances. Damage due to carelessness or abuse gets charged to the credit card number we're given when the room is booked.
We're using rugged gear, so accidental damage should be hard to accomplish.
What if something just stops working?
Then you'll have to strum harder, won't you? Seriously, just let us know and we'll do everything possible to remedy the situation ASAP.
